Getting to Alimos Marina

The Athens International Airport is Greece’s main gate to destinations all around the world. All major airlines as well as low cost airlines have scheduled flights to Athens airport throughout the year. Some of the low cost airlines that offer flights to Athens at super prices (if you book early) are EasyJetGerman Wings and Vueling. You may also visit SkyScanner for all available options on flights.Once you land in Athens Airport “El. Venizelos”, you are about 33km (approx. 20.50 miles) away from Athens centre, 45km (approx. 28 miles) from Piraeus port and 35km (approx. 22 miles) from Alimos marina.

In order to reach Alimos marina, you have 3 basic choices. These are:

1. The public bus which will take you directly outside the marina (the bus stop is called EDEM). The bus name is X96 and it runs round-the-clock every 20-30 minutes. Travel time is about 90 minutes (depending on the traffic) and the ticket costs Euro 5 and can be purchased outside the airport main hall.

2. The metro (subway) that will take you to Syntagma Square. (Athens centre). From there, you can get the Tram Line to Alimos marina (EDEM stop). The metro runs every 30 minutes from 05.30 to 00.20 on a daily basis. The ticket costs Euro 8 (with further discounts for more people) which also covers the change to the Tram line. So no need to purchase a new ticket. For more information on timetables, you may visit http://www.amel.gr/.

3. By taxi. Definitely the quickest and easiest way to reach Alimos marina. Just outside the airport’s main hall, there are plenty of taxis waiting. Depending on the traffic, it is approx. a 45-minute drive and it will cost about Euro 40–45 (luggage included).
